What HUBL is

HUBL is a system for investigating important questions and decisions. It helps turn a broad or uncertain situation into a structured view of what matters, what the evidence supports and what should happen next.

HUBL in one sentence

HUBL helps you investigate a decision by organising context, evidence, assumptions, challenge, alternatives, uncertainty and next action into an inspectable line of reasoning.

This means HUBL is not merely a chatbot, a search engine, an LLM wrapper, a report generator or an autonomous decision-maker. AI is important to HUBL, but the product is the structured investigation system around that intelligence.

AI is part of HUBL, but it is not the whole product

HUBL uses AI as part of an investigation. The important product behaviour is how that intelligence is surrounded by a process that asks what needs to be understood, what evidence matters, where the case depends on assumptions, what alternatives should be considered and when uncertainty should remain visible.

A fluent answer is not enough. HUBL is intended to help users understand why a view or recommendation follows from the available information, and where that conclusion is qualified.

These are conceptual product behaviours. The exact interface may develop as the product matures.

What HUBL does not do

HUBL does not guarantee that a recommendation is correct. It does not make the final decision for the authorised person, treat every source as equally authoritative, hide material uncertainty to produce a confident answer, require every investigation to end in a yes or no recommendation, or assume that the available evidence is complete.

Those boundaries are part of the product. They help keep HUBL useful for serious decisions where the evidence may be incomplete, mixed or changing.

Investigation as the core unit

An Investigation is the structured process through which HUBL develops and updates its understanding of a question or decision. It starts with what you are trying to decide, then works through context, evidence, assumptions, challenge, alternatives, uncertainty and what should happen next.

Current HUBL View

A Current HUBL View is a concise statement of what the available evidence currently supports. It is useful when HUBL can explain the state of the case but an action recommendation would go too far.

A Current HUBL View can change when new evidence appears, assumptions change, constraints change, the user corrects context or a real-world test produces new information. That is not arbitrary instability; it is the investigation responding to a changed case.

Recommendation

A Recommendation is an action-oriented conclusion when the available evidence supports one. It should follow from the evidence, assumptions, alternatives, challenge and uncertainty in the investigation.

Not every investigation needs to produce a Recommendation. Sometimes the right result is more evidence needed, test first, defer, escalate, compare further or retain uncertainty.

Next action

The next action is what should happen after the current state of understanding. It may be to decide, investigate further, validate an assumption, run a test, obtain evidence, escalate for review or defer.

This is one reason HUBL is not a yes or no machine. The useful outcome is the next justified step, not always a final answer.

Decision Report

A Decision Report is the structured output that brings together the investigation: the question or decision, important evidence, assumptions, alternatives, challenge, uncertainty, Current HUBL View or Recommendation and next actions.

This guide treats the Decision Report conceptually. It does not document export mechanics, sharing controls, file formats or collaboration behaviour.

Where responsibility remains

HUBL can investigate, challenge and recommend. Responsibility for the decision remains with the appropriate human decision owner: the person or authorised group able to commit to the decision and its consequences.

HUBL recommends. The authorised person decides.
